5 Ways to Celebrate Spring Today

Spring is creeping in and I couldn't be more excited. Buds are forcing themselves to climb out from under their tree-bark-sheets, stretching their arms, rubbing their eyes, and waking up to the season. Though flowers are far from full bloom and grass is far from green, the signs of spring - melting snow, glimpses of grass and dirt, sunshine lingering past 6:30 p.m. - are filling me with hope and happiness. Spring provides us with the opportunity to open up to new possibilities and embrace all things fresh and new.

Here are 5 ways to expand those feelings of hope and happiness and celebrate spring today:

1. Hang a spring wreath on your front door. This simple act will pretty much guarantee that you'll not only boost your own mood each time you walk out your door, you will add a little joy to your neighbors' mornings and to all passersby.

2. Take a walk. If you're living in the Northeast, you might need to bundle up, but the fresh air will do you good. Make it your mission to find more signs of spring. Keep the hope alive.

3. Deliver flowers to a friend you haven't seen in a while. Not only will this unexpected surprise light her up, it will light you up too. Giving is a major contributing factor to happiness. It's really a thing. Plenty of research on it here and here.

If you’re struggling to find happiness, the best way to raise your happiness is to create it for someone else first.

4. Make something sweet. (Or better yet, a sweet and salty treat.) Then take it a step further and share. Bring extras into the office and see how quickly they're gobbled up. (This quick & easy recipe will be posted later this week. Stay tuned.)

5. Incorporate color into your everyday wear. Accent your daily wear with a pop of color - a bright scarf, or jewelry. Accessorizing with something colorful will lift your mood and the mood of those you come into contact with. When you feel cheerful, you'll be cheerful - and that energy in contagious (in the best way possible).

What do you think? I'd love to hear from you. Tell me in the comments below, how do you plan to celebrate spring?
