Celebrate Each Other with Kendra Noonan Hughes

Every time I hang up the phone with Kendra, I am ready to take on the world. Kendra, Founder of Shining Through the Shadows, has a beautiful spirit and a very special gift of holding space for others to instantly feel comfortable with vulnerability. She sees deep beneath the surface and shines back to you what you most need to hear to heal your way into the light. I highly recommend speaking with Kendra if you are ready to bust through your blocks and step fully into your authentic self. I am honored to know her and extremely fortunate to work with her. Read on to learn more about Kendra, her business, and what celebration means to her.

Kendra, give us a quick history of your personal life coaching business and how it came to be.

Five years ago I was involved in a women’s group and we had an assignment to create 3 goals and work on them with a “buddy” from the group. During my first call with my buddy I wasn’t even able to say my third goal, it was to become a life coach. I started crying, I so much wanted to be a life coach. This is the profession that makes my soul shine.  I struggled with feelings of inadequacy and inability to be a great life coach. I went through Shadow Work® training and 18 months ago I began reaching out to my community and asking for volunteers to let me coach them.  The results were amazing. I was coaching coaches that were impressed with my abilities and couldn’t get enough of my style. This past March I started another training with Kate Siner and really stepped up my game. I created my web site, started blogging, and created a FB page. Since then, I have been putting myself out there, getting amazing clients and creating the business I have always wanted.

Elevator pitch. 1-2-3-go! (You have 30 seconds).

I can help people quickly shift the things that are blocking them so they can live the life they have dreamt of and SHINE the way they were born to shine!

You're in the business of helping people uncover their blocks so they can shine brightly in this beautiful world - and that is something to be celebrated! Tell us, how do you define "celebration"?

I define celebration as the ability to recognize how amazing you are and to live your life from that place of shining!

You are on a mission to help amazing people become all of their fabulous selves! (I love that.) What do you think most holds people back from living in their true authentic power and allowing all of their light to shine? What can we do to push through those blocks and come out the other side?

I believe that we are all given messages from society about dimming our shine in different ways.  Sometimes these messages start in childhood and are reinforced as we get old.  Somehow we set up our lives to continue getting these messages that hold us down.  The key to shining through these shadows is to recognize where they came from recognize the truth of the shadow and light our own way through that darkness by shifting our perspective!

The mission of & celebrate is to inspire people to find something to celebrate every day. What are some ways you encourage your clients to celebrate their accomplishments?

I ask my clients to brag as often as possible.  I start each coaching session with celebration, I ask my clients to tell me three things from the past week that they want to celebrate.  We all deserve a pat on the back!

What little things in your business are you celebrating today?

Today I am celebrating all the amazing feed back of how great I am AND I am celebrating all the feedback I am getting on how I can improve.

Describe your favorite way to celebrate.

I love celebrating any way I can. I would say my favorite way is through gratitude. When I can find a way to be grateful for anything then I am able to change my perspective and recognize the gifts I can get out of just about any situation, and I would say that is worth celebrating.
